Emgage Florida Communications Director

The position is based in Florida and reports to the Emgage Florida Executive Director. The position works closely with the Emgage National Communications Team, based in Washington, DC to ensure proper coordination and consistency in messaging. The Communications Director (CD) will shoot, edit and produce video content to inform and educate Emgage’s constituents in Florida about GOTV, legislation and policies that affect them. This position will also manage the state chapter’s social media content and build relationships with various media outlets across Florida. To assist with other administrative/operational duties to ensure logistical success and day-to-day processes run smoothly. The goal of the CD is to continuously share the story of Emgage’s work in an impactful and moving way that speaks to the public, media, and organizational peers while promoting Florida Chapter GOTV plans. The CD will support chapter general communications, media, and marketing needs to ensure the chapter’s logistical success. The CD is responsible for reporting to the Florida Executive Director and Operations Director. The ideal candidate is a team player, detail-oriented, and passionate about civic engagement and political empowerment.
Coordinator Job Duties:
- Shoot, edit and produce video content to inform and educate Emgage’s constituents throughout Florida
- Create and promote, in coordination with the National Communications team, engaging and informative social and broadcast media content.
- Performing interviews with elected officials and community stakeholders to producing content to drive a yearlong connection and engagement with our constituents Amplify the endorsement of Tampa candidates as well as provide support, as needed, on amplification of Florida-wide endorsements.
- Produce and pitch stories to the media in coordination with the National Communications team.
- Provide as needed assistance to the Florida Executive Director on other communications and organizing duties
- They will assist with chapter duties and activities and manage outgoing communications.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communication or similar field required
Video Production, Social Media Content Creation, Experience pitching stories to media/news outlets, Self-Driven; Excellent Service Skills; Exceptional Communication Skills; Strong Writer;
Ability to Maintain a Strict Level of Confidence; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs;
Proficiency with CRM capabilities; Attention to Detail; Strong Problem Solving Skills;
Excellent Organizational Skills; Highly Motivated and Ability to Prioritize Efficiently
At least 5 years of previous Experience in a Related Field Preferred; Professional Appearance; Excellent Typing Skills; Ability to Work Alone or As Part of a Team; Enthusiastic and Reliable; Knowledge of Basic Office Management Procedures; Reliable, and Ability to Engage with
Others on a Regular Basis, Experience with EveryAction, Canva, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro
Position is a fulltime 40 hours per week, contract position at a rate of $3,750/month. Contractors are responsible for filing their own taxes. This position is contracted on a probationary period of three (3) months. Following, the CD will have a review with the Chapter Executive Director or Director of Operations for an opportunity for potential extension. Future growth opportunities with the chapter are also possible based on performance and availability. Statewide travel required (must own a car) and work on select Fridays, weekends, and holidays.
