Emgage, a national leading Muslim American voter mobilization and issue advocacy organization. The Program and Policy Manager position supports Emgage’s mission of increasing the civic participation and representation of Muslim voters through civic education, GOTV operations, issue advocacy, and leadership training. This position will be based out of Michigan and will report to the Michigan Executive Director. Ideal candidates have proven leadership traits and experiences in their respective fields.   • Advancing the vision and values of Emgage with the Emgage community; and
  • Manage key projects and special initiatives that relate to organizational growth
  • Supporting our organizing operations by building a strategic development infrastructure with the Executive Director
  • Manage the organizational policy portfolio and advance key policy issues and priorities
  • Lead and expand the Muslim Civic Table



  • Implement online and offline organizing strategies to win legislative, power-building, and programmatic achievements through town halls, fundraisers, trainings, advocacy days, etc.
  • Manage and grow the Muslim Civic table and events 
  • Support with Development, grant writing, and managing funder relations 
  • Manage and improve database input in Emgage’s CRM, Everyaction.
  • Monitor and research ongoing legislation at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Send internal updates/memos to staff on new legislation, cosponsors, legislative activities, and/or upcoming hearings. 
  • Identify and develop strong, trusted, and authentic relationships with key organizations, funders, and community leaders.
  • Support the planning of travel itineraries as needed. 
  • Support  ground and digital organizing efforts, including managing  up to 30 organizing staff and volunteers if needed
  • Occasional evenings, weekends, and travel may be required for conventions, Emgage chapter engagement, and Emgage national programming.


  • 5+ years of working experience in a fast-paced and effective civic and advocacy organizing, and/or political campaign.
  • Experienced organizer with knowledge of NGP VAN
  • Ability to adapt and pitch diverse framing and messaging for different audience markets
  • Demonstrated understanding of the local community terrain i.e. active civic groups, community dynamics, local Masajid influence, appetite for civic activity, engagement with elected officials, etc.
  • Support planning of major events including strategy, venue, vendors, event logistics, invitation outreach, event flow, etc. 
  • Skilled in stewardship outreach and building strong relationships
  • Experience creating, maintaining, and executing content and strategy for civic or political organizations.
  • Ability to effectively translate political language and priorities for popular audiences
  • Strong leadership, quantitative analysis, and organizational skills.
  • Project management experience. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent public-speaking skills with the ability to successfully inspire others toward a common vision or goal.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)  nonprofit management, political science or a related field.
  • Knowledge of legal constraints of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) nonprofits.
  • Unwavering commitment to social justice and experience with social change organizing.


The position is part of the leadership team of Emgage, with a competitive salary in the range of $65,000-$75,000 with the potential for long-term advancement.
