Founded in 2006, Emgage achieved national prominence in 2020 by hosting candidate Joe Biden at its Emgage Action Summit and helping turn-out over one million Muslim voters during the 2020 Million Muslim Votes Campaign. The organization is headquartered in Washington, D.C. with chapters in Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Texas, and New York. As a leading Get Out The Vote (GOTV) and social justice/human rights issue advocacy organization, Emgage has a network of partnerships with local and state grassroots organizations across the country. Emgage also has strategic partnerships and works in coalitions with a diverse set of leading national organizations.

The Communications Associate will manage general national administrative and operational duties to ensure logistical success and day-to-day processes run smoothly. They will assist with national and chapter communications. The goal of the Communications Associate is to continuously share the story of Emgage’s work in an impactful and moving way that speaks to the public, media, and organizational peers. The Communications Associate, under the direction of the CEO and Deputy Director, manages Emgage’s social media presence. 


  • Drive daily social media posts for Emgage (est 5-10 posts a day on Twitter, 1-2 for Facebook, 5-6 a week on Instagram & TikTok.
  • Send daily social media calendar to Communications Director, Deputy Director, and the CEO
  • Drive graphics creation as needed
  • Support state directors on digital needs
  • Draft compelling social media content
  • Work with client stakeholders (e.g. state directors, policy staff, etc.) to generate locally-focused content for distribution
  • Work in partnership with other communication staff, including press, design, legislative staff
  • Work with digital vendors to improve client web assets
  • Develop templates for effective email communications through our CRM, EveryAction, and support National and State Chapters in developing emails and getting information out in a timely manner
  • Manage social media messaging (organic and inorganic)  
  • Support Development Director in implementing effective communication strategies that build loyalty, brand awareness, and donor/community satisfaction.
  • Create comprehensive communications plans and marketing strategies for launches of new programs, events, and campaigns that account for all channels. 
  • Improve communications efforts over time


  • Help drive overall communications strategy
  • Copywriting for website
  • Support staff communications through editing and drafting press releases
  • Create attention-grabbing press releases, press kits, e-newsletters, and related marketing materials
  • Support the National team with logistical event planning and developing effective communications strategies to promote events

The position is a full-time 40 hours per week, contract position with an annual salary of $60,000. You will be provided the opportunity to enroll in our employee health care plan. After 6 months you will have the opportunity to enroll in our 401k retirement plan and any other benefits offered to Emgage’s full-time Employees. You will be entitled to 12 annual vacation days and 7 sick days per calendar year. Annual leave must be requested at least 8 weeks in advance and approved by your direct supervisor.

An Employee’s first ninety (90) days of employment are on a trial basis and are considered a continuation of the employment selection process. During this ninety (90) day probationary period, Emgage Foundation may terminate employment immediately, with or without cause and with or without notice. Likewise, the employee may terminate his or her employment with Emgage Foundation at any time, with or without notice and with or without cause. This ninety (90) day probationary period is not a term of employment. It is not intended, nor does it, impact the at-will nature of the relationship between Emgage Foundation and the employee.
