Emgage Action calls for Rep Ilhan Omar’s continued presence on House Foreign Affairs committee

WASHINGTON, D.C.:  Emgage Action responds to Kevin McCarthy’s move to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

“Kevin McCarthy’s move to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from the foreign affairs committee is a partisan move, an unproductive way to run the House, and is rooted in bigotry and Islamophobia. Rep. Omar has experience in foreign affairs, and deserves to be on the committee,” said Wa’el Alzayat, CEO of Emgage Action.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy has vowed to remove her from the committee, although two House Republicans have already said that they won’t vote to remove Rep. Omar.

Rep. Omar also sits on the House Education and Labor Committee and the Subcommittee on Workplace Protections.
