Emgage Action urges support of Rep. Omar’s committee assignment

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Emgage Action urges the public to write to their elected officials and tell them to reject any attempts to remove Representative Ilhan Omar from her House Foreign Affairs Committee Assignment. 

When Republicans elected Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-CA-23) to serve as Speaker,  he vowed to remove Representative Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee – a statement Emgage Action has forcefully condemned. 

As the first Black, Muslim, refugee woman elected to Congress, Rep. Omar tirelessly fought for her community and the people of Minnesota. She is an advocate for investing in education, tackling student debt, increasing wages, striving for a just immigration system, and reversing climate change. She has earned her place on this committee.
