Emgage Condemns Truck with Anti-Muslim Messaging

On Saturday, November 26, 2022, a truck with anti-Muslim messaging circled around the parking lots of several Islamic centers in New Jersey. Around 200 congregants were attending an event at one of the targeted mosques, the Muslim Center of Middlesex County in Piscataway, when the truck circled the parking lot. Some attendees and members of the Muslim community voiced concerns about the truck as a tactic of intimidation at Muslim places of worship.

The digital billboard on the truck featured images of the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, assigning blame to Muslims. The Mumbia attacks, carried out by a terrorist group took place fourteen years ago on November 26th in India.

“Emgage strongly condemns the use of anti-Muslim and divisive messaging as a tool of intimidation and harrassment against our communities. We are grateful for and echo the support of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee (NJDSC) Chairman, Leroy J. Jones Jr. and the condemnation from Governor Phil Murphy,” stated Afsheen Shamsi, Emgage National Board Member from New Jersey.
