Emgage Action celebrates Zohaib Qadri’s win

Emgage Action is pleased to celebrate Zohaib Qadri’s victory in the runoff election for Austin City Council, District 9.

“We are thrilled to see this electoral outcome and congratulate Zohaib on his achievement,” said Farrukh Shamsi, Emgage Texas State Chair. “With over half the City Council seats up for election in 2022, this was a competitive and critically important race – and Emgage Action was grateful to take part in advocating for the needs of our community.”

This win builds on historic elections in Texas: in November, Salman Bhojani and Suleman Lalani became the first Muslim lawmakers elected to the Texas House of Representatives.

Qadri ran on issues including affordable housing, racial justice, and representation. He will be inaugurated on January 6, 2023.
