Entering a new chapter for Emgage: A statement from our Board
In January 2017, Emgage made one of its most consequential decisions in hiring Wa’el Alzayat as its first Chief Executive Officer. Today, with deep gratitude, we acknowledge Wa’el’s transition from the CEO role after a decade of dedicated and impactful service to Emgage and Muslim American communities.
Under Wa’el’s leadership, Emgage flourished from five independent state operations into a unified national organization with seven vibrant state chapters. He was instrumental in assembling a talented and passionate staff whose commitment has been pivotal to the organization’s success. Wa’el skillfully built a broad coalition of activists and electedofficials, creating the backbone for landmark initiatives like the 1 Million Muslim Votes get-out-the-vote program. He also elevated Emgage’s presence as a respected advocate in the halls of Congress.
We invite our supporters to join us in expressing heartfelt gratitude for Wa’el’s steadfast leadership and sacrifice during tumultuous times. While he steps down as CEO, his dedication to our mission remains unwavering. Wa’el will continue to contribute his expertise in an advisory role, ensuring our work benefits from his insight and experience and allowing him to focus on strategic priorities.
As we turn to the future, stay tuned for announcements regarding Emgage’s 2026 strategic plans and new leadership. We are energized for the journey ahead and look forward to your continued partnership.
