U.S. Census Bureau Celebrates Emgage’s Census Efforts

Washington, D.C.- The U.S. Census Bureau celebrates Emgage’s work in ensuring that Muslims and other minority communities were counted in the 2020 Census. Despite the challenges presented by COVID-19 and the Trump administration, Emgage Texas held 98 events with trainings, made 3,000 calls, and sent over 5,000 text messages, reaching over 6,600 people in Texas to ‘Get Out The Census.’

“America is changing fast. But one thing that doesn’t change is that we all do better when our communities are safe, strong, and healthy. The last time we had a census was 2010, and our communities have changed dramatically since then. It is imperative that the 2020 Census capture that change. A good census is the first step in making sure that the demographic picture of our country is reflective of the beauty on the ground.” – Nabila Mansoor, Emgage Texas ED & Census Director

Emgage is a 501c(3) that implements an ecosystem of programs to develop the capacity of the Muslim voter to ensure that our narrative is part of the American fabric. Our programs include civic educational events such as issue forums and town halls, voter initiatives including Get Out The Vote (GOTV), and specific programs for the youth in order to mentor and support the next generation of leaders.
