Emgage Michigan Field Managers

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Emgage MI is looking to hire field managers for the 2024 general elections. The field managers will be responsible for overseeing the field team that will be canvassing/door-knocking every weekend leading up to the November election. Tasks include: conducting voter education, participating in door-to-door canvassing with the team, leading weekly in-person (virtual or in-person) meetings, driving to various turf locations to quality control, holding canvassers accountable, and training as well as assisting canvassers as needed. Ideal candidates are highly reliable, goal-oriented, enjoy person-to-person contact, and are passionate about engaging voters. Field organizers must be available on weekends and some weekdays and evenings, and must have reliable transportation to travel between different locations for site-based and door-to-door outreach.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Attend all mandatory meetings
  • Hold weekly prep meetings on Saturday in person with canvassers
  • Distribute literature, shirts, snacks, and drinks when needed to canvassers
  • Drive around to different turfs to check on canvassers
  • Train new canvassers
  • Hold canvassers accountable, make sure they are clocking in correctly, and working their hours
  • Meet with canvassers twice a week minimum
  • Weekly check-in with ED or Operations Associate weekly
  • Report any feedback or issues 
  • Cut and assign turf if needed
  • Schedule canvasser shifts 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a driver’s license and regular access to a car
  • Experience in a leadership position
  • Canvassing experience preferred
  • Must be available on weekends and some weekday evenings 
    • Must be available to work early election days (in Michigan that can be at least 9 days before the election: Oct 26 – Nov 3rd) AND election day (Tue Nov 5th)
  • Strong commitment and enthusiasm for engaging our Muslim American community
  • Solutions oriented and able to take and implement feedback.
  • Ability to build authentic relationships across lines of difference, such as race, ethnicity, class, ability, citizenship status, or other identities. Must understand how to take an inclusive lens into all aspects of work. 
  • Ability to thrive and work collaboratively with a team. Must love connecting with others.

Compensation: Starting at $25 an hour + $20 per week gas stipend
