Emgage reacts to death of Rep. Donald McEachin

Emgage is saddened to hear about the passing of Virginia Representative Donald McEachin, who died yesterday at 61.

Rep. McEachin was first elected to Congress in 2016 after working in Virginia’s General Assembly. Through his career, he worked on a wide variety of critically important issues, including equitable education, gun reform efforts, environmental protections, and affordable health care. He was the third-ever African American to represent Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Throughout his career, Rep. McEachin served Virginia, and his country, faithfully,” said Emgage Virginia Executive Director and Emgage National Organizing Director Mohamed Gula. “He was a champion of causes that are central to Emgage’s mission, and he will be missed in Congress. Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and constituents.”
