Emgage responds to newly-elected Democratic leadership, upcoming majority leadership vote

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. House of Representatives Democrats have elected three new leaders to serve at the top of the party: Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) as minority leader, Rep. Katherine Clark (MA-5) as whip, and Rep. Pete Aguilar (CA-31) as chairman of the party caucus. For the first time in history, every member of the leadership is either a woman or person of color.

In response, Emgage CEO Wa’el Alzayat states that this is a “truly noteworthy day for the Congress and the Democratic Party.”

The House majority leader will be elected on January 3, 2023. House Republicans have nominated Rep. Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) to serve as Speaker. McCarthy recently stated that if he is elected Speaker, he will remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee – a statement Emgage Action has forcefully condemned.

Emgage plans to engage with all Congressional leadership on critically important issues. “As always, our mission lies with the interests of our community, and we will continue advocating on their behalf on topics including social justice, religious freedom, voter rights, and more,” said Alzayat.
