Khizer Husain

Khizer Husain, Emgage Director of Development, is a non-profit management leader and fundraising expert with over two decades of experience helping organizations scale up while staying true to their mission and culture. He established an external relations department at a high-performing DC public charter school to raise millions of dollars from private, government, and institutional donors and influence policymaking.

In the healthcare sector, Khizer’s consulting practice helped clients in the US, the Emirates, South Africa, and Bangladesh serve the health needs of their communities. He also led a national Muslim health professional organization, which played an important role in advocating for universal healthcare and promoting Muslim mental health in partnership with Imams and community leaders, health professionals, and policymakers.

Khizer graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s degree with honors in biology and a master’s in business administration. On a Fulbright Scholarship, he attended the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the London School of Economics and Political Science for a master’s degree in health policy, planning, and financing. He lives in Silver Spring with his wife and parents. He enjoys long bike rides, organizing family reunions, and writing letters to friends.
