For six years, Nadia has been serving as a political appointee under the last two Maryland State administrations, showcasing her commitment to public service by uplifting diverse constituencies. In 2023, Nadia was appointed by Governor Wes Moore to lead the Governor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs as its Director; and in 2018, she was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to serve on Maryland’s Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs. 

Nadia is a seasoned public relations professional with 20 years of cross-sector experience in public engagement, strategic planning, and non-profit leadership and has a long track record of success in political organizing, advocacy, and media campaigns. 

Nadia is widely recognized as a Social Strategist for young people, particularly for her outstanding work with the Young Leaders Institute– a nonprofit she founded in 2016 providing opportunities for high school and college students to advance their leadership capacity in their circles of influence. Nadia developed a comprehensive leadership curriculum that spans Interpersonal Skills development, Problem Solving, Conflict Resolution, Ethical Leadership, Communications, Public Speaking, and Civics education and has offered dozens of internship opportunities to numerous youth cohorts. 

In 2011, Nadia made an indelible mark in her hometown of Villa Park, California, by taking a resolute stand to hold Tea Party officials accountable for their orchestrated hate crimes and bigoted smear campaigns. At the helm, Nadia led a bipartisan, county-wide coalition (the Villa Park Peace Coalition) to a victory; mobilizing diverse constituents to combat Islamophobia, resist hateful anti-Muslim rhetoric, and vote out bigoted, right-wing Congressional and local representatives. The collective effort resulted in a significant victory, culminatingin in the removal of a representative from GOP elected office. 

Nadia holds two master’s degrees from notable universities. She earned her MBA from Bentley University, where she focused her thesis on the Islamic Finance System: A Model for Sustainable Economics. Nadia earned her second master’s degree in Strategic Communications from the University of Maryland’s Global Campus, where she honed her skills in communications strategy, messaging, and branding.
